JPMAM Round the Island Race 2008 On 2XS

The annual JP Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race, organized by the Island Sailing Club, is one of the most popular fixtures in the Solent sailing calendar with 1700 boats. Competitors come from Europe and the USA, as well as all over the UK.

The 50 mile course round the Isle of Wight starts on the famous Royal Yacht Squadron line in Cowes, the fleet races west about to the Needles, round St Catherine's Point and Bembridge Ledge buoy back into the Solent.

Over 60 prizes are awarded for the event. Whether you compete regularly or are new to the sport, you will enjoy superb racing in some of the country's best sailing waters. Whilst the fastest multihull record stands at just over three hours, the bulk of the fleet crosses the line during the late afternoon or early evening and it is often the smaller craft that carry off the top prizes!

We will start at Cowes heading in a westerly direction towards Yarmouth, pass round the Needles Lighthouse, along the south-west coast of the Island to St. Catherine's Point and then up across Sandown Bay to round the Bembridge Ledge Buoy, then make our way past the Forts and across Osborne Bay to the finish line back at Cowes.

There is space on 2xs for individuals who want to experience the excitement of this famous annual event. We have put together a three day program offering a very competitive package providing a fantastic mix of racing, fun and socializing. Cowes always provides great evening entertainment.

Thursday 26th June delivery trip to the Solent

Join 2xs on Friday morning for breakfast if you have not been on the delivery trip, before departing for a day of training with your race skipper for the weekend, you will concentrate on teamwork sail trim and maximizing boat speed in preparation for the race.

Saturday is race day and an early start for a full day of racing before returning to Cowes.

Sunday is a relaxed leisurely sail back to Haslar

Monday is the delivery trip back along the coast.

• 1 or 2 days onboard.Join 2xs for the delivery trip or trips on Thurs and Monday for only £69 per person each way .
  
• 5 days onboard Thursday - Monday Complete package £499 per person.

Personal travel insurance is Your Responsibility!
Please ensure your policy specifically covers you for sailing as well as the normal personal property, cancellation, accident, emergency and medical insurance.   The boat is of course covered independently.
